Renshinkan Brighton is led by Tom French Sensei.
Tom commenced his training under Julia Kyoshi in 2005 at the age of 7 and has since gone on to achieve his 3rd dan black belt, awarded by Soke Sensei Yuzo Tamotsu (10th Dan Grand Master) at the Renshinkan headquarters dojo in Japan. He has earned multiple Great British Kata, Kumite and Kobudo titles and has competed at world championships in both Taiwan (2015) and Japan (2019).

Tom Sensei is committed to helping his students grow into strong, compassionate and respectful members of society, he feels this is essential to his role as a Sensei and a follower or budo.


Shihan Julia is the leader of Renshinkan England, holds a 6th Dan and has been teaching for 30 years. She trains regularly in Japan, and teaches good old-fashioned values of discipline, commitment, hard work, honesty and integrity. These budo values underpin the whole practice and unite the heart, mind and body.
